Forest of Dean ramblers on June 9th celebrating the official opening of a new footbridge at Upper Forge over the River Lyd near Lydney by the Mayor of Lydney Cllr Bob Berryman and President of Ramblers GB Kate Ashbrook in the presence of Mike Ingleby FoD ramblers chairman, Rod Goodman and John Sheraton, the prime instigators, with representatives of Dean Forest Railway and Forest of Dean District Council. The Group raised over £3,500 to fund the project including the boardwalk, supports and legal arrangements to confirm the path over it, Gloucestershire County Council providing the bridge itself. Dean Forest Railway helped with their lifting gear. Altogether a great team effort which took over 3 years, but got there in the end! (And not forgetting Barbara Fisher who pulled the ceremonial event together)
Media coverage was extensive
Rod was interviewed on BBC Radio Gloucestershire on the 9th June, find it on iplayer or the bbc website
