Gloucestershire Way 20 years 1996 – 2016

It’s 20 years since the inaugural walks of the Gloucestershire Way in 1996 in a joint venture between Tewkesbury Walking Club and Cleeve Ramblers Group.

The route was set up partly due to an initiative at the time, to create regional or County routes and so with the support of Gloucestershire County Council Rights of Way team, Gerry and Kate Stewart put together a route,

Gerry (a long standing footpath advocate) wrote a book to cover the walk, created the Waymark (with its distinctive logo) and runs a website Countryside Matters.

Many of our Groups have since organised walks along the route such as South Cotswold Group in 2011

Sunday May 29th sees Gerry and Kate rerunning the inaugural walks with one from Conderton to Winchcombe on Sunday May 29th
Meet 9:30 at Back Lane Car park Winchcombe to catch the bus to Conderton. Tickets £5 in advance from Gerry 01242 620598.
